| Air Conditioning Inspection |
|
Many commercial buildings and an increasing number of homes have air conditioning systems. These systems should be carefully maintained and managed in order that they do not consume too much energy. Under a new legislation in accordance with the Energy Performance in Buildings Directive (EPBD) your Air Conditioning system will require an energy performance inspection? This new legislation affects everyone in England and Wales that has a building with a single, or multiple Air Conditioning system. By 4 January 2009 all air conditioning systems over 250kW must have their first inspection, and by 4 January 2011 all air conditioning systems over 12kW must have their first inspection. New systems over 12 kW installed after January 2008 must be inspected within 5 years of being put into service The trigger for air conditioning systems inspections is the size (effective rated output) of the system not the type of building and so the measures apply to homes, commercial and public buildings. The inspection will include an assessment of efficiency, a review of their sizing and advice on improvements or replacements and alternative solutions. Provide building owners/operators with information about system performance, and Identify opportunities to reduce your CO2 emissions and save energy and money Inspection reports will remain valid for five years, after which the system will require another inspection. |
